Know Before You Go: Trip Planning and COVID Information

Vermont is Open!

Vermont ski areas are excited to welcome all skiers and riders back to the slopes this winter. With travel restrictions and mandatory quarantines lifted (and not expected to return), the COVID-induced travel challenges of last season are gone. Canadian visitors are advised to check travel requirements (see more information here).

Vermont ski areas are continuing with many changes introduced last season that made the guest experience easier, such as online ticket presales, touchless transactions, outdoor warming areas, and expanded preorder and grab-and-go food options.

Skiers visiting Vermont can look forward to a feeling of relative normalcy, with no outdoor masking requirements and lifts loading at full capacity.

Requirements or recommendations for indoor masking are set by each resort, so it's important to Know Before You Go and check your destination resort's visitor information page prior to your visit. Since policies may change throughout the season, it is a good idea to check requirements before each visit -- and don't forget to pack your mask!

Vaccinations are not required to visit Vermont ski areas, however some resorts will require proof of vaccination to enter certain indoor spaces. Be sure to check your destination resort's policies and Know Before You Go - see links provided below.

When planning a trip, skiers and riders should still:

• Know Before You Go. Plan ahead and check your destination resort's COVID guidelines page for information on indoor masking, online ticket purchases, or vaccination guidelines. The same goes for your lodging if you're not staying on-mountain.
• Stay home when sick. Avoid travel if you or someone close to you is sick or experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 infection, has tested positive for the virus or has been in close contact with someone who has (see a list of symptoms here). If you have a reservation, contact the ski area and make plans to visit another time.
• (For Canadian Visitors) Check travel regulations.  While restrictions have been lifted for interstate travelers, visitors from Canada should check US border-crossing and Canadian reentry requirements prior to leaving for their trip. Free COVID testing is also available in many locations in Vermont.
• Bring a mask with you so you're prepared for situations that require one. 

Once at your destination ski area:

• Respect signage and employee direction related to policies and procedures throughout the ski area. These measures have been enacted to help protect both guests and employees.
• Masks and face coverings are not required outdoors, but indoor requirements vary based on ski area. Make sure you have masks and any items required to be indoors before leaving your car.
• Remember frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitizer.
