Mountain Biking in Stowe

Vermont is home to some of the best bike parks in the Northeast. Autumn is the perfect time to ride because of the cool air and gorgeous fall foliage.

Bolton Valley

Mountain biking returned to Bolton in the summer of 2018 with the revival of 7 classic downhill trails, and the birth of a new downhill/climbing trail. This summer we're proud to annouce that the trail system has been expanded to a 26 trails and areas including:Bolton Valley is home to a growing system of raw, rowdy, and ripping mountain bike trails that will give you the chance to  test your skills and nerve, or just a great opportunity to practice and improve your skills.

Burke Mountain

There are close to a hundred miles of cross-country mountain biking trails all around Burke Mountain. If you’ve heard of Kingdom Trails, then you know they are some of the best anywhere in the country.

But don’t just take our word for it: according to MTBparks.com, the downhill mountain biking located right in the Burke Mountain Bike Park isn’t too shabby either. Voted one of the top five best regional bike parks by riders throughout the Northeast, the gravity fed downhill park and trail system offers riding for all ability levels from beginner to expert.

A variety of terrain can be found at Burke Mountain including 3 downhill trails from the summit. Lower on the mountain, you’ll find fun, flowing single track and machine-excavated flow and jump trails.

Kingdom Trails

Kingdom Trail Association (KTA), a 501(c)3 charitable organization, was established in 1994 by a group of visionary residents and business leaders in the area. Their goal is to encourage recreational use of the Northeast Kingdom that is ecologically sensitive and promotes the natural beauty of the region. Major support for this effort has come from; the National Park Service, the Vermont Community Foundation, the Vermont Department of Forest, Parks and Recreation, the Connecticut River Valley Partnership Program, The Windham Foundation, Vermont Community Foundation, The Vermont Land Trust, Burke Area Chamber of Commerce, KTA members, and volunteers.

Mount Snow Resort

Since we opened our lifts to mountain biking 32 years ago, Mount Snow has been putting smiles on dirt-covered faces every summer. Our terrain and trail system is rooted deep in the heritage of Downhill Mountain biking with the resort hosting dozens of major events, like the Eastern States Cup Downhill finals in 2017 & 2018.

In the past few years we have been progressively integrating features like berms, ladders, manmade surfaces, and dirt jumps into Mount Snow's trail system; staying ahead of what has become expected of the new age bike park. Mount Snow is home to Gateway, which is one of the longest introductory downhill trails in the East. Anyone who is already comfortable on a downhill mountain bike now has the opportunity to let gravity do the work without having to be an expert.

Okemo Mountain Resort

In addition to the expansion to the summit, which offers longer, steeper, and more challenging terrain, Evolution Bike Park still offers its flow trails which are accessed from the South Ridge Quad A. The trails from the top of Quad A are flowing descents that move through open terrain and pockets of forest, while rolling across the naturally undulating terrain. These trails are fun for a variety of riders and can be ridden on all types of mountain bikes, allowing novice riders an introduction to mountain biking and advanced riders fun descents and a taste of things to come.

Smugglers' Notch Resort

Our MTB Center has it all! Spread over three acres, the park features a flat ground skills park, a pump track, and a downhill skills park. The downhill skills park is accessed by a Wonder Carpet conveyor lift, which runs daily 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. In addition, The Bike Shop offers an array of over 40 bikes for rent and features great gift options, including Smuggs branded merchandise and apparel. All program offerings run by our Mountain Bike School meet at the MTB Center & The Bike Shop. Stop in the bike shop to grab a trail map!

Stratton Mountain Resort

Stratton’s new lift-served downhill mountain bike park is now open on weekends and holidays through mid-October. Serviced by the American Express six-passenger lift to mid-mountain, the terrain in Phase 1 will offer 4.6 miles of beginner, intermediate and advanced trails. Vermont based Sinuosity has designed the layout with a focus on hand building trails, a technique used by the company to minimize the environmental impact as much as possible. Phase one of the project will have eight open trails that will be lower mountain only.

Sugarbush Resort

All downhill mountain biking terrain is located at Lincoln Peak, including 28 trails. Try out the bike park or a mixture of challenging descents and high-speed downhill runs. Please be aware that the trails are rated on a relative scale and that even the easiest routes require good skills.

Suicide Six Ski Area

Mountain Biking is kicking up dirt all summer long at Suicide Six! We are proud to partner with Sinuosity: Flowing Trails to construct downhill mountain bike trails accessible via our quad chairlift. The park also offers a strider park (for the little ones), and a progressive skills development area designed to build confidence and take your riding to the next level. A perfect spot for the whole family to experience the excitement of mountain biking! We feature certified coaches, progressive terrain, and a premium bike rental fleet- from the best full suspension bikes for kids, to the latest in downhill race machines from Kona, Rocky Mountain, and Santa Cruz. Technical DH-specific runs and flowing jump lines are planned that will challenge even the most seasoned riders.

Trapp Family Lodge

One of the best ways to explore the Vermont countryside is to get out and ride! The Trapp Family Lodge's 2,600 acres feature an extensive mountain bike trail network with two skills parks. Ride our 8 miles of expert and intermediate single track, or more than 20 miles of double track through mountains, fields and forests. Ride Hop Over or Lager Lane to the von Trapp Brewery Bierhall... the best trailhead ever!

We offer high-quality bike rentals through Giant Bicycles as well as repair services and riding lessons.
